Linda Arbuckle!!

Finally, we are so excited to welcome the amazing Linda Arbuckle as our visiting artist in Ceramics this semester. Everyone is welcome, hope to see you there!

"The interpreted functional vessel brings people into personal contact with an art object in daily life. The transformation of common terra cotta clay into a resonant object points the way toward parallel transformations possible through the observed moments of personal life.

Linda's work in majolica-glazed earthenware has been recognized through an Artists' Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a Florida Individual Artists' Fellowship. Artist-in-residence positions in Wales and the People's Republic of China have provided further balance of Eastern and Western resources in her works.

Linda has presented summer faculty sessions at Penland School, Arrowmont School, Haystack Mountain School, Appalachian Center, Santa Fe Clay, The Odyssey Center, and the Archie Bray Foundation, as well as visiting artist workshops at many art centers and universities across the U.S.

Her work appears in the collections of The World Ceramics Exposition Korea International Collection, Inchon, Korea; Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, MT; Museum of Decorative Arts, Little Rock, AR; Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN; Racine Art Museum, Racine, WI. Publications include a feature chapter about Linda's work in The Penland Book of Ceramics: Master Classes in Ceramic Techniques, Creative Pottery: A Step By Step Guide and Showcase, and Earthenware Masters.

She served a term as Director at Large for the board of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, and has been a Florida Arts Fellowship panelist.
